What does it mean to be wealthy and happy? This question will spark many responses as everyone has a different definition and interpretation of what it means to be wealth and happy. Very naturally, to be wealthy means materially rich but yet, we know that being wealthy doesn’t guarantee any level of happiness.

Some would say that happiness is a state of mind. Happiness tends to be determined by a series of happenings that are delightful to the human’s mind interpretation. While I’m not a psychologist but just someone who likes to ponder on the issues of life, I define wealth as a state not determined by riches. I’d rather be wealthy in my family life, work and social life. It still calls for a certain level of material wealth but not to the extent of luxury or the need to acquire a big house, a big car or lots of material possessions. Living a simple, happy and comfortable is what I desire, with a balance of simple enjoyments, occasional luxuries and presence of moral support from family and good friends.

It’s hard to understand why the rich are complaining. Perhaps they are crying for something ‘more’. Something that will last and speak to them. They are longing for a satisfying pat on the back, a smile from a familiar face, a hug from a friend or a comforting word during their times of distress.

So what kind of life do you want to live? What sort of wealth are you after?
