home, living and lifestyle for the modern world

anti aging treatments and beauty concerns

Sometimes I wonder how is it like to grow old. I like to confess that it can be scary when I take a look at some of the older folks around me. My own father in law is now 92 years of age and in the recent years, he had to resort to using disposable diapers as he could no longer control his bowels.

For women, growing old means having to tackle wrinkles, sagging skin and beauty concerns. There are of course botox and lipo and all sorts of facial laser treatments to counter these beauty challenges but there will come a day where all these treatments just won’t help anymore. Personally I do believe that if you intend to try out anti aging treatments, you should start a little younger. Don’t wait till the first signs of crow’s feet or wrinkles or you may take a longer time to erase those lines. As much as you would like to believe that beauty is beyond skin deep, the looks and physical appearance still matter to most women… and men too!

the cosmetic and beauty industry

Women have always been known to have the greater purchasing power compared to men. Talk about beauty and cosmetics and you get the women all ears and thrilled. Every woman likes to look youthful and beautiful. That explains why the growing cosmetic and beauty industry for decades in almost every part of the world.

But today, men are catching up with the fever. No longer are they new to Botox, liposuction or any beauty treatments. They are more familiar with Proactiv acne cream and the latest anti ageing products. So this goes to show that beauty is pursued among both genders and any race. There is no partiality in the world of beauty.

take a look at natural skin care

For a long time now, I’ve always been a loyal user of natural skin care products cos I do believe that parabens is harmful to our skin health. In the past, natural skin care was expensive but these days, due to more demand, the prices have become affordable and more people are able to enjoy natural products readily. As an online shopper myself, there are few online stores that I patronize for natural skin care and natural makeup which I would be listing in a while… once I get my internet to work a little faster. So you haven’t experience the goodness of natural skin care products, you should start today.

dont’ drink and drive

I’ve just been reminded by my hubby that our car insurance is due in a week’s time. If you are a driver, you would agree that a car insurance is of utmost importance once you are on the road cos you never know what you are going to get!

What I dislike most when on the road are road bullies and drunk drivers. I find them not only to be irresponsible but very hazardous as they have ‘taken’ my innocent lives on the road. So if you are planning to drink on a social function, make sure you have arranged for a drop off by a friend. Otherwise, make sure you ride with someone who is sober. Drinking and driving is a crime and sadly, it is still happening today.

planning for another family vacation

Finally, our last mega project for the year is completed. It’s time to start my packing this week before I can sit down to plan for our family vacation this fall. I would soon need to get a new luggage to replace my old Delsey since a hard case like this would add more weight than I desire.

I love planning for vacations, it’s such an exciting process. Besides the fun of checking out various sightseeing places and accommodations, I get to have a first hand experience of what to expect in a new place. Though traveling with a child is not as fuss free as I like to be, it’s nice to take my child for our family vacation. We know of many friends who prefer to keep their young children at home on vacations. For us, we have taken our kid to every single family vacation. This is one meaningful and great experience that we both treasure as a family.

stress affect our performance

We all go through stress in life. Life is never always perfect and we all need to expose ourselves at some point to a pick me up attitude. When we have stress, we should not shutdown although this is the instinct. We must push forward and motivate ourselves. If we have stress at work or other personal tragedy, we have to move on and still function. We have to proceed with our days and not let the stress affect our performance at work and in other areas of our lives. When we feel the stress escalating we have to nurture ourselves and come to grips that the feeling of grief inside will be dealt with and that we will overcome.

We will eventually have to deal with all the stresses that we place into compartments so that these do not escalate out of control. This is vital. But it is necessary to ensure that your health is in check even in the midst of stress. It will be miserable to constantly check your pulse oximeter day in and day out. And we must prioritize and ensure that the stresses that we face are dealt with; and engaged and that eventually they are removed from our lists and make way for the new challenges of life.

i want a gps too!

I’ve been bugging my husband to look into the new GPS system since all our friends are talking about getting it too. Since our visit to LA last Christmas, I had been very impressed with how our cousin got us around to new and unfamiliar places with her GPS too. What was cool was the graphical images on the screen and the clear navigation of the location of the streets and destinations. For someone like me who isn’t too good with going places by memory and maps, the GPS will sure do great in pointing me the right directions!

take identity theft seriously

LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention - Save 10%

Locking your Identity takes time, attention to detail and deep knowledge of the ways thieves penetrate the lives of consumers, how banks issue credit as well as the laws, procedures and regulations which govern how your personal information is released, sold, shared and compromised.

Some of what we can do you can do for yourself. Or, you could leave it to the experts here at LifeLock and get on with your life knowing that you’ve got the world’s only solution that will actually prevent your Identity from being used and a company that stands behind you to the tune of $1,000,000 should anything ever happen.

Nearly 10 million Americans fell prey to identity theft last year, costing businesses and individuals billions of dollars. Here are a couple of tips to help you:

1. Understand debit card dangers: Greater liability than credit cards. When it comes to fraud, debit cards carry much greater personal liability than credit cards, depending on how quickly you report the loss of the card. If you fail to report unauthorized use within 60 days of receiving your bank statements, you could lose all the money in the account and be held responsible for the amount of money that has been tapped from your line of credit.

2. Rethink check writing: That little slip of paper has way too much information. Some experts advise against check writing because it gives away your address, bank account number, signature and license number to complete strangers. On top of that, there’s no federal legislation to limit your liability for forged checks (each state has its own set of rules). Experts advise that you look into automating your bill paying.
